Candidate for Campbell River City Council
Candice Lowery
Rooted here. Ready to serve.
Deep community roots, twenty years of small-business experience, and a practical, collaborative voice focused on thoughtful decisions that serve Campbell River well.
What I Bring to the Table
A lifetime in Campbell River, a proven record of growing a local business, and a commitment to showing up for this community.
Deep Community Roots
I have watched Campbell River evolve and have a deep understanding of our community's needs, the value of reliable long-standing services, and the essential role small businesses and local industries play in our economy and in sustaining the programs and amenities residents rely on.
Business Experience
I owned Eden Street Salon and Day Spa for 20 years, giving me practical, hands-on experience in entrepreneurship and economic development.
Community Growth
As a Board member of Community Futures, we have actively supported local businesses and helped foster community growth.
Governance Experience
Through my work with the BC Legislature, I bring insight into governmental processes and policymaking, and how they affect municipalities like ours.
Community Volunteer
I am committed to community service and civic engagement through a range of volunteer roles. I continue to support local fundraising efforts through my participation and volunteer work. Recently, I joined the Rotary Club and volunteer with the Salvation Army Ocean Crest Community Ministries in Campbell River.
Outdoor Enthusiast
I am passionate about how parks and outdoor activities improve our health and well-being, and I will bring that perspective to community planning and recreation initiatives.
Why I’m Running
I am running to put my work ethic and integrity to work for Campbell River at the local level.
As a small business owner for 20 years, I understand budgeting, fiscal responsibility, and the duty to manage public funds carefully. My experience with provincial legislation, working with various ministries, and helping constituents navigate government systems has given me practical insight into how higher levels of government affect our city.
I also serve on the board of Community Futures, where we help current business owners secure the resources they need to grow and support new entrepreneurs as they turn ideas into reality.
Growing up in Campbell River, I am deeply invested in this community. I cherish time spent outdoors with my husband, our dog, and my horse, and I believe access to nature is essential for mental and physical health.
My Priorities
Focused leadership, responsible decisions, and a commitment to building a strong and welcoming community.
Fiscal Responsibility & Efficiency
I am committed to promoting greater efficiency across city operations through cost savings and careful budgeting.
Small Business & Tourism
Supporting the viability of small businesses and encouraging local tourism growth.
Downtown Safety & Security
Improving downtown safety and business security so residents and visitors feel confident and welcome.
Collaborative and Steady Governance
Fostering an ongoing relationship of openness and transparency between Council, staff, and the public we serve.
Endorsements
Support from people who know my character, work ethic, and commitment to Campbell River.
We proudly endorse Candice for City Council. I first met her at Lady Fitness when she was just 18, and her dedication and ambition were immediately evident. By the time I sold the business, Candice had risen to a management role, demonstrating her capability to operate independently. In 2004, I sold Eden Street Salon and Spa to Candice, confident that she had the potential to continue its success. At just 28, she transformed it into Campbell River’s top spa and salon for many years. Beyond our professional ties, I cherish our friendship, admiring her integrity, humour, and resilience. I am confident that Candice will bring the same dedication to the City Council, understanding the importance of serving our community. I wholeheartedly support her and encourage others to do the same.
Candice is one of those steady, careful, good-natured people who should be in politics. Campbell River needs council members like Candice. I am more than pleased to offer my endorsement to her in the October 2026 municipal election.
I am delighted to endorse Candice for City Council. Our unique friendship began at Lady Fitness and continued as we worked together as lifeguards at Strathcona Gardens. I have witnessed her growth into a dedicated community member committed to service. Candice approaches every challenge with fairness and integrity, consistently impressing me with her organizational skills and attention to detail. Our community would be fortunate to have her on the City Council, where she can channel her energy and commitment into enriching our community further.
As a successful entrepreneur who understands the importance of strong leadership, sound financial stewardship, and efficient, effective management, Candice will bring a high level of competence to her role as Councillor. I am pleased to endorse her election campaign.
